Pfizer takes out Hospira for $90 a share.

No biggie, what’s another $15 1/2 billion of cash amongst friends? I guess a few billion here and a few billion there means nothing any more? A 39% premium? Pretty soon, we will have 1 remaining ginormous Pharma company who owns the entire space. I remember back in the day when the $17 billion RJR/Nabisco deal was more money then any one had ever heard of. Now, nobody even bats a eye.

Money in motion is a good thing, its just worrisome when fat cats are falling over each other to pay the highest price ever for an asset. Haven’t we seen this before? In fact, haven’t we seen this many times before? The only time smart people throw money at the wall in the hopes that it will stick is at the top. As an R&D guy, I’m just interested in the sustainability of pioneering novel medications, so I have no idea when this party will run out of booze. But,know this; the booze will run out long before most people even notice.

By the way – Congratz to Pfizer for nabbing the turbo charged entrance into biosimilars.
